Shucking Corn

We have been learning about different Indian Tribes with our Moving Beyond The Page curriculum. Right now we are studying the Southwest Tribes. The Southwest Tribes are know to be the tribe that first used corn for various resources.

The weather has just been beautiful so we been taking whatever can be done outside for learning. One of the things was shucking corn. I set up a scene for the kids to explore while shucking corn.

We read this book over a two day period. It is one of my favorite Fall readings very appropiately written for the grades 3-5.

They had a lot of fun shucking corn!!

Carrying their loot so they can explore how they can use corn as a resource too.
